After graduating from college, you always wonder what happens next or more like what happens to all the friends you’ve made throughout those last four years. You begin to ask yourself if you’ll ever keep in contact or see them again.
Luckily for me, I was fortunate to catch up and reunite with a fellow Husky classmate, Cathy, this evening for a simple get together. Cathy and I met our freshmen year, in our General Chemistry 142 class (whoopeee….) Gosh was that class terrible! I remember her walking in late, and there was an empty seat next to me and my friend Aurora. he asked for the spot and sat down, and from there our friendship blossomed! We were both Public Health majors as well, so we got to see each other a lot!
Anyways, Cathy is originally from the Portland area, but she told me she has not been around the Tigard area as much, so it was pretty much new for her to get around here. As for our evening, we kept it pretty chill and roamed around Washington Square.
Oh and I forgot to mention, (well Cathy wanted me to share this on my blog)…Cathy had picked me up in her cute, electrical car. It was actually pretty nice, I’ve been in a hybrid before, but not like a complete electrical automobile. It was so efficient and it barely made any noise (except at times it sounded like we were on an airplane). With that side note, it was pretty cool knowing we weren’t polluting the air and emitting carbon dioxide while driving (oh the chemistry is coming handy right now !)
Moving on, Cathy needed to do some shopping before heading back to Seattle, but let’s just say Cathy struggled a bit trying to figure out what she wanted, and more like I ended up being the one with more shopping bags in my hand hah!
After walking around and such, we ended up at the good ole Cheesecake Factory (the very first time Cathy and I went out to eat, we started off with the Cheesecake Factory, what a coincidence). We enjoyed a great little dinner and drinks and just caught up on life, school, friends, “POST-GRAD” life, family, and everything else in between! Honestly, it was nice seeing an old face from school, I mean the last time I saw her was on graduation day in June!
Let’s just say, I was really thankful and grateful that we both made the time and effort to stay connected throughout this time, especially with our busy lives and all. Not that many people do that, so it was great having her company, it felt like being back in the U-district eating on the Ave. I have definitely acknowledged appreciated the time and the people who do and have made the effort to keep in contact with me as we grow up, its nice knowing those friendships never die.
With that being said, it was a great way to end my night by catching up with an old friend and UW Alumna! Can’t wait to see you again Cathy!
